The 164 is for sale. My annual mileage has risen to a level that using a classic like the 164 would use it up rapidly, which would be a shame. It has therefor been replaced by a more mundane car, a Volvo 940, and to free up some badly needed parking space I have to sell the 164.

It's a dark green '74 164E which until the end of 1999 has spent it's life in sunny california. It is rust free (obviously), though as expected the mostly original paint is severely faded. It now has dutch license plates, but I still \ have the california registration document and plates.

When importing it I had it fitted with an LPG (propane) system, new tires (Vredestein Sprint 185/70/15 VR), rims are sandblasted and powdercoated. All the usual problems are fixed, such as the heater fan, rear exhaust manifold, distributor, and broken washer tank. I also removed the broken automatic transmission and fitted a manual with overdrive. This makes for a very relaxed 3000 rpm at 75 mph cruise.

Other items: power steering, AC system present and still holds some pressure but is not operative, 5 speakers, DIN radio connectors, antenna in windshield, original tinted glass all around, tow bar, halogen headlights.

The interior has been completely refurbished by the previous owner, seatbelts front (new) and back (in very good condition).

To summarize, this is a very solid, mechanically good 164E that will be an excellent daily driver for you, or that could with a respray easily be turned into a very pretty car.
