Eezibleed brake bleeder

I think the eezibleed brake bleeder is a pretty nifty gadget. The idea is pretty simple: Deflate your spare tire to 20 PSI, fill the eezibleed with brake fluid, connect it to your master cylinder, make sure everything is tight, and connect it to your spare tire. Your brake system is now pressurized to 20 PSI, and you can just walk around the car and open all the bleeding nipples in the right order. Just keep an eye on the fluid level in the eezibleed to prevent air from being blown into the system. No need for an assistant, and no risk of damaging master cylinder seals when pumping the pedal too far. Caps are supplied to fit most m/c. Also works for bleeding other hydraulic systems like hydraulic clutches. On some systems with particularly difficult air bubbles in some line I found a short dab on the pedal was neccesary to start the bleeding process. Below is a crude ASCII drawing of how it works.

With a bit of workmanship something like this could easily be constructed at home (an article describing such a project by Bill Ward was published in the November/December issue (Vol 15 No 6) of Rolling, the magazine of the Volvo Club of America). The advantage of the Eezibleed is having everything collected in one box, the disadvantage is spending something like $25 on what's essentially $5 worth of parts and an hour work.

One word of warning: In the manual is the warning not to exceed 20 PSI of pressure. DO NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY. Exceeding the pressure could make the fittings come off and spray brake fluid all over your engine bay.

The eezibleed is made by Gunson, a UK company. Eezibleed and Gunson are quite probably registred trademarks
