2005 to September 2007: senior Unix administrator Optiver, Amsterdam.
Senior Unix administrator responsible for design, implementation and maintenance of the Unix platforms, mainly Solaris and Linux on Sun and HP hardware, as well as the trading, risk and financial applications that run on these platforms.

  2003 to 2005: Technical Specialist (civilian) Dutch National Police (KLPD), Driebergen.
Systems administration, upgrade, design and implementation in a 24/7 mission critical environment with a focus on networks, unix servers, backup/recovery, security and vendor relations. Further job and security clearance details available on request.
The environment includes Linux, Solaris, Windows 2000 servers, Dell and Sun servers, EMC/Dell SAN storage, Cisco switches and routers, mysql, Perl and shell scripting, mail, backup systems, WAN, and a number of organization specific classified systems. Class A security clearance.

  2001 to end 2002: Systems Support Employee, Energis N.V., Zwolle.
Systems Support team. Unix and network administrator, responsible for administration, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of Sun, HP and Linux servers and workstations, Cisco router WAN network and LAN switches in a high uptime telco environment. Associated duties included Siemens Realitis and Lucent SDX PABX systems, vendor relations and limited application support. Special projects included the design, construction oversight and relocation/move of the new server room while maintaining 24/7 availability of mission critical systems, design of a new LAN infrastructure, and migration of the PABX system from Lucent SDX to Siemens Realitis.

  1998-2001: Systems and Network administrator, High Tech Automation, later integrated into Ordina Utilities, Media and Telecom division, Bilthoven.
Systems administrator responsible for the maintenance, upgrade and implementation of the Novell and Linux servers, integration with other platforms (WinNT), building infrastructure (data and voice), WAN links to the Internet, other branches, and other companies within the holding. Other duties include Vendor liaison and purchaser of IT equipment, some end user support, and technical advisor to facilities, building and general management. NATO B2 security clearance.
 
  1997-1998 Systems Consultant, Dedicate Networks (became Parity), Woerden.
-Dutch Department of Justice, department of correctional facilities (DJI):
Liaison between the central Y2K project and 10 correctional facilities, giving presentations, instruction, and technical assistance to the local Y2K project and management teams. Background check / security clearance.
-Exel Logistics: Consultant tasked with resolving network problems in a warehouse and office environment consisting of Novell and Windows systems. As the existing server and cabling infrastructure was totally inadequate for the evolved requirements of the client this turned into  design and implementation of a new network and server infrastructure suitable for a 24/7 logistics environment.
-KPN: Continuation of previous job.
 
  1997 Contractor. Client (payment through Vedior):
KPN Communications Solutions Nederland: systems administrator, implementation of new hardware and software, and 3rd tier support. The environment consisted of a Novell 3.12 network with Microsoft clients and connectivity to midrange systems running SAP and a set of IBM mainframes. 15 locations, 2500 users. This client had implemented ITIL methodology.
 
  1996-1997 junior systems administrator, Rijnhaave (became Syntegra), Zoetermeer.
-Philips Medical Systems. Duties included client installation, 2nd tier support, and support for the network upgrade project on a HP/UX, VAX and Windows network in an office automation and technical development environment.
-PTT/KPN: systems administrator and 2nd/3rd tier support in a Novell/Windows office automation environment with  connectivity to midrange systems running SAP and the mainframe environment.
-Unisource: site surveyor for network upgrades at 12 locations.
 
  1993-1995 Senior Technician, Vobis Microcomputers, Heerlen.
As senior technician I was responsible for installing, supporting, assembling and troubleshooting customer systems and peripherals, managing the branch technical department and stock, managing the part-time employees of the technical department, and pre-sales support.
